I love panoramas. Most digital cameras comes bundled with software for creating panorama images by “stitching” together multiple images. Usually some user intervention is required for guiding how the stitches would be performed.
AutoStitch is a special software program for stitching images. As the name suggests, stitching is done automatically without user intervention. Just point to the source images and AutoStitch does its stuff. AutoStitch can stitch together images that are arranged in 2 dimensions. Most stitching software are only capable of stitching images arranged either horizontally or vertically.
I find this software to be quite easy to use and is a great time-saver. I don’t use the bundled that comes with my camera – I find the output wanting. I instead use StitchPanorama, which is a GIMP plugin. It allows me more flexibility for tweaking the settings for better output quality, but I found it too time consuming. Despite being automatic, the quality of AutoStitch’s output is very good – better than StitchPanorama.
I’ve been running AutoStitch in Linux via Wine. It seems to run as well as it does on Windows.
My first attempt:

Composed of 67 images in 2-dimensional arrangement
Generally, the more base images, the better will be the quality of the resulting panorama. But it works well for small number of images too:

5 images (1-dimensional)
