My favorite distro, PCLinuxOS, had just released early this week its long anticipated 2007 version. Linux.com has one of the early reviews.
Meanwhile, DSWD Bicol is set to adopt this distro. Cool.

I always liked Debian distro. Why is this one your favorite?

I’m not really quite informed/experienced about more recent distros, as I stopped experimenting with other distros after I found PCLinuxOS.
Why is PCLinuxOS my favorite?
I think my primary reason is because it is one of the most practical linux distros out there. I’ve been using PCLinuxOS 2k4 since mid-2004, and up until the 2007 release I’ve never needed to re-install a newer version. All upgrades work excellently via Synaptic.
- It has excellect hardware support;
- multimedia works well out of the box;
- although composed of a small team, repository contains a large number of packages. If you think an application is useful, you’ll probably find it in the repository. If it isn’t there, you can always request, and the turnaround is fast;
- very stable;
I’ve tried Ubuntu Feisty once under VMware. Hardware support is not quite as good. Also, I prefer KDE a lot more than Gnome.

Ah, hardware support used to be tricky a couple of years ago. My Win-Modems made it a point, that it would hide itself from the Linux. And i took pleasure in getting it detected.
I am gonna try PCLinux :))
Is this really true. The review said that it is possible to use the Windows driver for hardware. Man, this would be cool. Is this something similar to the WINE project?

Hope you like it. Beryl works great, even on my ancient GeForce2 card!
The review is only referring to WLAN drivers for Windows using ndiswrapper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ndiswrapper). Most linux distributions use this for making wlan cards work.
